FILL HERE: SOMETHINGGOOD CO.

#FILLHERE

Fill stockists are good. Without them, we’d have a factory full of products that nobody ever got to use.

They’re made up of independent zero waste stores, refill shops & all kinds of conscious businesses. Folks helping to create change by encouraging others to #fillcleanrepeat

It’s been a tough 12 months for many of our stockists, but the commitment to doing things better hasn’t changed. Despite everything, we’ve seen a whole lot of good vibes, kindness & positivity & we think it’s cool to share it here.

Here’s one of our favourites, SomethingGood in Newcastle upon Tyne, run by the brilliant Lauren Wedderburn.

Lauren picks out responsible everyday goods for her store, bringing together her favourite items & helping others to make everyday choices less wasteful and more good. Everything Lauren selects is tried, tested, loved & used by her. We recently asked her to FILL IN THE BLANKS, to find out more about her story so far.

WHO ARE SOMETHING GOOD

Plastic-free pantry. Refillery. Purveyors of ethical lifestyle goods.
(And of course, we’re Fill’s biggest fans!)

HOW DID YOU WIND UP AT SOMETHING GOOD

I’m an architect – a designer’s brain combined with becoming more and more aware of the environmental and social impacts of our over-consumption and waste led me to believe there was a better way of doing things. So, I put my ‘out-of-office’ on, rolled up my sleeves, and started SomethingGood.

WHAT MAKES SOMETHING GOOD A COOL PLACE TO BE

We’re independent, you won’t find the SomethingGood experience anywhere else. Everyone tells me how calm the shop space is, and if I had a pound for every time someone told me how nice it smells in here I would have paid off my start-up loan by now. We know our products inside out too. If we don’t love it and use it ourselves every day, we don’t stock it. No exceptions. We’ll chat to you all day about what we do and why we do it.

IF YOU WEREN’T RUNNING SOMETHING GOOD WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING

I’d still be ‘architect-ing’ for sure. Or playing with dogs all day long if I could.

BEST MOMENT

The first time Dave came to collect our empties was pretty cool. I built a wall out of 20L cleaning and laundry product containers and it was taller than me! It was just a pile of containers to anyone else, but to me it was my vision for SomethingGood actually there in front of me, it was working.

A VALUABLE LESSON

Things take time. Big things happen by doing lots of tiny things on repeat.

ONE PLACE WE SHOULD GO SEE

Come and hang out with us in Newcastle !

WHO IS YOUR ZERO (LOW WASTE) HERO

My customers, all of them.

WHY

They’re all so passionate about playing their part in making our world a better place. Even when it hasn’t been the easiest option to shop with us (hello pandemic…) they’ve done it anyway.

And finally….

LAST SONG YOU CHOSE TO LISTEN TO

Joy by Bastille.

WHAT SONG WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD TO THE FILL CLEAN REPEAT PLAYLIST

We have a shop playlist that I’m always adding to, so many to choose from! Anything by Haim, Bowie, or we’re often found dancing to The Waterboys, The Whole of the Moon!
