BILLY RAINWEAR

#FILLCOLLABORATION

wash bag

Hey, how’s it hanging?

Here’s a close up of the new Fill Refill x Billy Rainwear collaboration, packed inside the new plastic free refillable Camping Kit. This pouch makes for a cool way to carry personal gear around camp, in the great outdoors or on any kind of adventures close to home. Made by Beth Cosmos, in London, out of studio off-cuts from recycled ex-festival tents. Fully lined with repurposed tent fabric. Features a YKK chunky tooth zipper. Printed in house. Screen artwork by Eleonora Marton.

They say around 250,000 tents are abandoned at festivals each summer. BILLY Rainwear came to be as a solution to that problem & back in 2017, Beth started rehabilitating those wasted tents into cool kids raincoats!

Since then, she’s saved thousands of metres of nylon tents from landfill & made some sweet looking goods & natty gear that gets to carry on camping a second time around!

Beth is cool & we dig the things she makes, so we’re real pleased to bring you this special collaboration as part of the new plastic free Camping Kit – created to encourage refill, reuse & responsible camping. We caught up with Beth recently to ask her a few questions about what got her started.

What is Billy Rainwear?

It’s a one woman brand.

What makes Billy Rainwear a cool place to be?

Our three cornerstone values are pretty cool. 1. Made in the UK 2. Always recycled. 3. Zero waste. This makes us one of the most sustainable fashion brands in the UK.

We’ve just moved into a studio where we work across the table from a magician, that’s pretty cool!

If you weren’t running Billy Rainwear what would you be doing?

That could be anything from whale watching in the antarctic to naked body painting. I get inspiration from everywhere!

How do you escape?

Make for the North Circular and get out of London!

Or, wild swimming on Hampstead Heath.

Best camping spot?

Too many places to list but head for the Brecon Beacons!

WHY COLLABORATE WITH FILL?

Phill got in touch and told me about the idea to make a responsible camping kit. They asked if i could make the bag from repurposed tent fabric..
It’s so perfect! I jumped at the idea. A tent within a tent… it’s like the mamushka doll of the camping world!
