ZERO TAILPIPE EMISSION CLOSED LOOP DELIVERY IN LONDON.
Easy for you to say.
Not so easy to do.
If you aren’t from the Big Black Smoke, you might not have heard the news. We’ve had to change how we do closed-loop zero-tailpipe emission deliveries in London. Our good pals at Planet Minimal closed their operation to start a new life in the country and we sure will miss them.
FILL x PLANET MINIMAL
We first started working with Planet Minimal back in 2019. They hooked us up with a wonderful bunch of London’s best refill stores, conscious businesses and restaurants, helping to drive single-use plastic out of the supply chain. I’ve known a lot of folks who had cool ideas with purpose. Lots of them talk a good game. It’s not everyone who can put those ideas into action. Folks like Hamish from Planet Minimal are rare.
Not EV to come by!
When we first met, I was impressed by how much he knew about Electric Vehicles (EVs). I was more impressed by the idea that anything he didn’t already know, or that he felt he probably should know, or might need to know, he’d very soon make it his business to get to know. I liked the cut of his jib. I envied (still do) his MacGyver-like skills on bulk refills, his ability to dive deep into nerdcore & his determination to find practical workarounds! Doing, not just talking about doing.
Inquisitive ✔️Good taste in music ✔️ Digs cats ✔️ Refiller ✔️
I knew things were gonna work out fine.
And so, they did.
From their warehouse in Leyton, Planet Minimal used their electric vans to carry out last-mile delivery of fill products (plus other essential refillables too) to a whole load of cool businesses in London, taking back empties at the same time. Helping us to reuse every drum ‘til destruction!
Over 6 years Planet Minimal X FILL made a lot of deliveries, a lot of refills. A lot of trying things out, working things out, finding things out. A whole bunch of nerding out on tanks, pumps, taps, caps, washing, re-washing, QR code tracking, route-planning, mapping, accounting, inventory, making things happen AND not very much waste at all! In that time Planet Minimal built something real special, becoming a vital nexus in a community of refill stores and conscious businesses across the capital city.
I knew how cool it was to have the chance to supply this way, with people I admire, as people first and foremost. Earlier this year Hamish and Laura told us that they were ready for a new adventure. They’d made the tough decision to move out of London, but they were determined to help stockists out with a smooth transition. Planet Minimal were a shining star in the refill universe, right up until the roller shutters closed for the
last time. We’re proud to have worked with them right from the start. We’re grateful for everything they did. We miss working with them already. They leave behind a brilliant concept, delivered with soul, purpose, style & efficiency. A beautiful legacy and a loop that has to keep on looping…
Supply by Zedify!
With Planet Minimal moving out, we were left thinking of ways to keep the loop going, like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel. Could we deliver direct into the big smoke ourselves? Commission a new crew with an electric van? Set up a new warehouse? Plus other schemes and dreams that didn’t make the grade. We didn’t have long to solidify supply… Then came Zedify!
Zedify use electric cargo bikes and electric vans for lightspeed, tailpipe emission free, last mile deliveries. Boldy going where others don’t. They now deliver our most popular lines to London wholesale stockists whilst collecting ALL empty FILL drums to return to Fillville for refill. We reckon this to be the best solution to keep the mission on track.
Zedify are the most developed cargo bike delivery network in the UK, operating in 9 cities already with more to come. Like us, they pay their team the real Living Wage and employ all their riders! Their mission is to make our cities better places to live, work, and play.
Watch how Zedify close the loop with a FILL delivery.
We’re real excited for this partnership & we’ve got high hopes that we could roll zero tailpipe emission closed loop supply into other cities too.
